On The Run and David Polenz Racing Donate 10 Bicycles
Even with the rain coming before any of the race cars could hit the track for their races there was one special event held at Old Dominion Speedway Saturday night. Two On The Run Franchisees Raj Ghandi and Appiah Tharmarajah, used their local store marketing funds in conjunction with David Polenz Racing, and bought 10 bicycles to be awarded to 10 students from the Loch Lomond Elementary School a school for children with many needs (http://lochlomondes.schools.pwcs.edu/ ).
Before the bicycles were given to the students there was a special bicycle race. Five race car drivers from various divisions picked a bicycle and had a one lap race. The racers were David Polenz, Davey Callihan and Brandon Brown from the Late Models and Ryan Polenz and Tyler Hughes from the Legends Cars. The Event winner was Tyler Hughes and he was awarded a $50 gas card from Joe Murphy and On The Run. But the real winners were the 10 young boys and girls who were able to take home a brand new bicycle. The Loch Lomond School had an essay contest for K-5 students and the winners received a free night at the track with their families and were awarded a bicycle.
